Overview
For this site visit, we are planning to gain access to the site where contractor, Octavius, will give a tour of the works being undertaken whilst designer, Mott Macdonald, provide commentary.
Ryde pier opened in July 1814 and is the world’s oldest seaside pleasure pier. The pier continues to operate as a busy passenger ferry terminal to Portsmouth and connecting railway service providing access by train along the east of the island.
The site visit will be followed by a short presentation. If you can stay on, it’d be great to enjoy a drink together to discuss the project and wider matters.
Please note: 5-point PPE is required (boots, hi-viz, hard hat, glasses, gloves).
Travelling from the IoW, parking available on Ryde Esplanade or Ryde pier head.
Travelling from Portsmouth, take the 17:15 Wightlink catamaran from Portsmouth to Ryde. Return ferry travel at 19:47 or 20:52.
