Overview

The Wales National Flood Conference is returning to an hybrid event!

Organised by the CIWEM in partnership with ICE Wales Cymru. This event provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest developments in flood risk management in Wales and to network with professionals from across the sector.

In its 21st year, the Wales National Flood Conference will explore the twinned themes of climate change and resilience. In doing so, the conference will hear about the recent work of the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales and their report Building Resilience in Flooding in Wales by 2025.

Alongside this will be keynote presentations from Welsh Government (Llywodraeth Cymru) and Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru) on their work in this important area.

Provisionally we expect the event to run from 10am to 3.30pm, with plenty of chances to network with like-minded professionals before and after the event.

Why attend the conference

  • The conference is open to all with an interest in flood and coastal erosion risk management.
  • Hear from the Welsh Government (Llywodraeth Cymru), Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru), National Infrastructure Commission Wales (Cormisiwn Seilwarirth Cenedlaethiol Cymru) and leading experts and practitioners in the field.
  • Obtain an overview of the latest developments in climate change and resilience policy, strategy, science and best practice.
  • Share knowledge and experience with others in the profession and maintain your CPD.
Opportunity to network with a wide range of professionals from across the public and private sector.

This event is open to members and non-members of CIWEM and ICE Wales Cymru.

Please register your place by clicking on the registration button when bookings open. Non-members who have not registered for the CIWEM system can create an account on the booking page in order to reserve their place. This should not take more than two minutes.

If you have any questions about your booking or would like to cancel your attendance, please contact [email protected]

Please note: registrations will close at 9am 2 working days before the event starts. If you have not registered before that time, unfortunately we cannot add you to the event.

Early careers poster presentation competition

CIWEM and the ICE are jointly hosting a poster presentation competition at the conference. Posters should relate to any aspect of flooding, or flood risk management work. Posters relating to climate change and resilience are also welcomed.

The competition involves the creation of an engaging Poster and a five minute (or less) verbal presentation of the poster with follow up questions and discussion with the judges. Competition entrants should be working towards membership of CIWEM or ICE.

The winner will receive and engraved trophy and a £150 prize. All entrants will also receive free entry to the conference.
