Overview

This joint presentation on the A83 Rest and Be Thankful by Transport Scotland and AtkinsRéalis WSP joint venture will discuss the impact of landslides on the A83 trunk road at the Rest and Be Thankful and the work being progressed to address these in the medium and long term.
 
The presentation will feature the emerging solutions to improve: safety, resilience and operation of the A83 in both the medium-term and the long-term; with detail in particular areas such as geotechnical challenges and the preferred structural solution for long term resilience.
 
We’ll cover the long term preferred option assessment and the next steps for the project.

Craig Parry

Craig is a chartered engineering geologist working within the AWJV Ground Engineering team. He has worked on a range of large and small-scale projects for the energy, water, highways and development sectors.

He currently leads major geohazard-led highways projects and geohazard assessments for highways and forestry. Craig also leads the Ground Engineering and Tunnelling drone service line working to maximise the data collected for geotechnical assessments.

A chartered civil engineer and member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, Gordon leas the project for Transportation Scotland. With over years’ experience, Gordon has worked on large infrastructure projects including most recently three of the 11 projects that form part of the A9 Dualling Programme. He has also worked on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.
