Overview

A presentation by Paul Hughes on how serving in the Royal Engineers has complemented his career within local government highways structures. He will discuss what experiences he has had, both from previous regular enlistment and his more recent experiences in the Reserves.

Paul will outline some of the opportunities that have been afforded to him as a reservist, how he has received support from his employer, and the complementary experiences and positives of both careers.

Captain James Glass of the Royal Engineers will also join the Q&A after the presentation to help answer audience questions.

This webinar is hosted by ICE North Wales Branch Graduate Students and Technicians.

Paul Hughes

Paul Hughes is a Reservist Sapper within 75 Engineer Regiment, 107 Field Squadron. He is also an Operations Engineer within Natural Resources Wales – Integrated Engineering. Paul has been involved in Civil Engineering for approximately 19 years, originally as an ex-regular soldier within the Royal Engineers, then within a structural steelwork contractor and then working for local government in the structures departments across North Wales.
