Overview

CIRIA (Construction Industry Research Information Association) has been at the forefront of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) guidance and managing surface water for many years.

Their latest series of projects include an update to the SuDS Manual and a new estimating tool with supporting guidance to demonstrate, assess and value the wider benefits of SuDS.

Dr Chris Digman, Technical Director at MWH leading the project explains the development of the guidance and the tool, and shares the lessons learnt on how feasible it is to place a value on the impacts that SuDS can have – both the long established benefits and those that are only now starting to be recognised
