INWED is an international awareness campaign that raises the profile of women in engineering and encourage more to consider engineering as a profession for all.

Embracing the global theme this year on #ImagineTheFuture, our speakers will engage in a pillow talk session to speak on their journey into engineering, the challenges they faced after entering the profession and their aspirations for the future. Horng Eng, or more fondly known as Connie, is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 9 years of experience. She specializes in the project planning, management and delivery of offshore oil and gas projects for fixed structures. Her expertise expands into the digital realm, where she works with the digital team to establish and sustain the full digital ecosystem of technical solutions.

Connie is the advisor of the ICE Malaysia Graduate Network. She is passionate about topics related to women in STEM, sustainability, project management, and lifelong learning.

Fiona Tan graduated in Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2019. After graduation, she returned to Malaysia and joined Opus Consultants as a graduate structural and bridge engineer. As a young graduate, Fiona believes it is important for her to expose herself to various opportunities. During her time in Opus, Fiona developed a low-code mobile app for the company’s operation in a hackathon.

She continues her interest in learning about digital solutions by pursuing a professional certificate in Data Science.

Tania graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from University of Malaya in 2019, Tania strayed off the beaten path and found herself in the field of digital construction where she facilitates the implementation of BIM throughout project lifecycles. At PLYTEC and while with her previous employers, Tania prides herself on the young talents that she has coached and gone on to find success in digital construction.

She spends her free time tending to her indoor garden and connecting with nature.

Charisa Teo BEng (Civil)

Charisa Teo holds a First Class Bachelor of Honours degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University and was awarded the Best Civil Engineering Graduate by Monash University Malaysia in 2020.

She is a graduate engineer based in Tony Gee and Partners, Malaysia office where she has been working on infrastructure projects in the region, from structural analysis to site visits, she is keen on expanding her experiences in the field.
