The rapid rise in global energy prices over the last 12 months contrast starkly with the now significant scale of renewables contribution to UK energy supply. This – along with the Ukraine crisis, raises many questions over the future direction of energy infrastructure and how this is paid for - and for us all personally. This talk will look at the price volatility in the wholesale and retail energy markets and will consider the implications for energy infrastructure.

ICE Council Member, David Hirst, is Director of Ainsty Risk Consulting. Founded in 2010 and providing expert energy and risk management consultancy services to businesses and public sector organisations.

David is able to draw on his unique experience supporting major energy traders, retailers and generators in the UK and European gas and electricity markets to provide insight into how energy infrastructure is evolving, how it can be paid for… and what needs to be built.
