Overview

The event will explore the vision that the City of Edinburgh has for the new area of the city and the challenges faced in developing the vision. It will outline some of the complex engineering struggles to be overcome when trying to develop a post industrial area of land which is heavily polluted to create a truly sustainable mixed-use development.

The format will be an online webinar with a presentation followed by a Q&A section.

Sat Patel

Sat is a qualified accountant with 20 years of experience in major projects. He has played a played a pivotal role in business case development and delivery for some of the City of Edinburgh Council’s largest investment and infrastructure projects including Trams to Newhaven, Edinburgh Living affordable homes for rent, Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region deal, Edinburgh St James Growth Accelerator Model and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre Hotel and Hotel School. 

In his current role, Sat is the programme director for the regeneration of Granton Waterfront. He leads on the current construction and development programme with his focus at present on the development of phase 1 of regeneration to take forward the overarching redevelopment of the area. With 50 hectares of developable land supporting the delivery of around 3,500 new net zero carbon homes along with new workspace, active travel links and a coastal park, this represents a great opportunity for inclusive, sustainable growth in the north of the city.
