Overview

Does devolution deliver on the promise of giving power to local communities to meet local ambitions? Or does it assign responsibility for productivity and growth to the local region without the provision of proper holistic support?

ICE, RIBA and RICS are proud to host this panel debate to discuss the incoming West of England Combined Authority devolution deal.

Devolution was a hot topic in the Cameron majority administration and the process of devolving power, funding and decision making has continued under the May administration. However is there a true devolution of power? What does this mean for the built environment? Can regional devolution achieve the connectivity needed to make a region thrive? Should an incoming Metro Mayor have a built environment background given the powers of the deal? Do the skills powers go far enough to provide what is needed within the region?

The panel will answer pre-submitted but unseen questions from the audience, to submit a question please email [email protected].
