Overview

Greece has a long naval tradition that is part of its culture because of its unique position at the crossroad between East – West. Shipping has played a key role in the economy throughout Greek history. This lecture starts off looking at the history including trade routes and ship building.

Dr Ventikos then moves to the present and looks at Greece’s role in the EU Transport Network, including the Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T). He also covers the Marco Polo I & II, new ways to a green horizon, as well as SuperGreen, supporting European Union’s Freight Transport Logistics Action Plan on Green Corridors Issues.

Finally he provides data on Ports in Greece and looks at future trends.

Speaker

Dr. N. P. Ventikos, Assistant Professor, NTUA
