This presentation will outline how the significant impact that contaminated soils can have on an earthworks project is often overlooked. Plans may be made based on limited site investigation data, and often out of context of the site-specific project requirements. Revisiting the approach to the management of contaminated soils, including maximising reuse and minimising waste disposal, can have a significant impact on the cost of a project, and bring improve sustainability.
This event will provide a technical overview of the soil reuse and waste classification process, and present case studies demonstrating how a timely review and change in approach can bring significant benefits to an earthworks project.
