OverviewThe Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre has set out to develop a national monitoring programme to provide improved and consistent data to underpin strategic and local level decisions.
In 2019, the new Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre (WCMC) employed two full time staff at the Vale of Glamorgan Council (VoG). Supported by a Consortium, comprised of Gwynedd, Conwy, VoG Councils and the WLGA, the WCMC has set out to develop a national monitoring programme to provide improved and consistent data to underpin robust evidence-based strategic and local level decisions.
It will also help make predictions of shoreline evolution such as those required in Shoreline Management Plans which guide all coastal engineering decisions.
This event is co-badged with the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
