Overview

This lecture will trace the development of soil and rock injection over the past 45 years - from pocket-book empirical practice to a fully engineered process.

This progress has been achieved due to major developments in materials, plant and equipment, and analytical and control tools, and the dedication of designers and practitioners to improve the quality and efficiency of their work. Other factors include greater understanding of the structure and characteristics of soils and rocks, improved techniques for evaluating their properties before and after ground treatment, greater training and education of engineers and operatives.

The lecture will also address the need for specialist skills, and the importance of safeguarding the future development of this essential technology by creating an appropriate and supportive environment for engineers and operatives to develop and apply their skills.

Delegates are invited to join us afterwards in the ICE Café Bar for drinks sponsored by Whiteford Geoservices.
