Advances in automation and digital construction present the opportunity to close the productivity gap in the infrastructure sector, but the industry’s pace of change remains slow.
What barriers are preventing us from capitalising on this opportunity and how can we break them down?
This lecture will present findings from a joint ICE and Topcon research paper to be published in January 2019 which explores current perceptions and behaviours around adopting new processes and technology.
The event will examine the most common barriers across businesses large and small and how challenges and opinions differ across of senior and ground teams.
Our speakers will present lessons from sectors that are leading the way in adopting new technology and processes and the key issues identified in the report – including fostering collaboration, up-skilling workforces and focusing on training. Speakers will talk through how they’ve successfully integrated these new aspects into their own businesses and how they’ve overcome the barriers they faced.
With a focus on how we as an industry can evolve, the lecture and subsequent audience discussion will debate the next best steps into ensuring better adoption of new processes and technology, providing practical examples and take-back-to-the-office actions for implementing change.
