Overview

Described by Michael Palin as "one of the most beautiful railway journeys in the world," the single section of Northern Ireland Railways' network between Coleraine and Derry-Londonderry has been undergoing a phased upgrade programme.

This presentation covers the initial renewal and refurbishment of the permanent way to safe guard the operation of the line, completed in early 2013, followed by the renewal of the signalling and the construction of a passing loop to enable an enhanced hourly service to operate.
