Overview

Translink is the public transport authority for Northern Ireland operating bus and rail services. They transport more than 1.5m passengers per week, operate 1400 buses and have 300 miles of rail track including many bridges, structure, level crossings and signals.

In 2018, Translink commissioned Faithful & Gould and Atkins to undertake a study into the feasibility of successfully delivering a programme involving the detailed examination of the majority of their structural asset stock and completion of structural assessments for a proportion of those assets. As a follow up to the feasibility work, Translink commissioned Faithful & Gould to undertake a programme of reconnaissance visits to all structures included within the original work bank (approximately 1350 no. structures) and also develop a new asset database and software applications for data capture during reconnaissance visits, visual inspections and detailed examinations. This involved developing iOS-based tablet applications for the data capture and desktop applications for largely automated reporting, which will improve the accuracy and efficiency of defect reporting.

This webinar will present the scope of the project, IT development work undertaken and progress to date.
