Construction accounts for nearly 44% of all waste generated in Scotland and is a major influence on efficient use of resources.

Resource Efficient Scotland's Construction Waste Prevention free Advice & Support Service is available to all Scottish construction and demolition small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Scottish Government supported service helps companies identify opportunities save money through the efficient use of materials, prevention of waste and improved waste management practices in construction and demolition.

The greatest opportunities to make waste and material savings is during the design stage and support is available for projects at all phases of the construction process including planning and design. Services including tailored on-site support, employee training, web-based tools and technical workshops.

Rupert Carrick, Senior Implementation Advisor for Resource Efficient Scotland, will cover the purpose of the service, the support available and give case study examples of how the support can work in practice to deliver waste prevention, as well as financial savings, community benefits and sources of funding such as the Resource Efficiency Waste Prevention Innovation Fund.

NB: Support is available to any EC defined SME i.e. companies which employ fewer than 250 persons and which have an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euro (and/or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding 43 million euro).
