The presentation will discuss the stability of end tipped clay embankments, track settlement on the peat fens and washouts of glacial till cuttings. In addition the speaker will talk about more recent subsidence and stability issues associated with storm surges, ash embankments, vegetation, rainfall, badgers, rabbits and other Third Parties.
Prioritisation and cost effective earthworks’ interventions associated with these issues will then be discussed, noting the constraints imposed by ecology, remoteness, funding limitations and restricted access to track.
Our speaker is Ian Payne, Senior Asset Engineer (Geotechnics), Network Rail.
