Two new stations will be constructed - one at the heart of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment and another at Nine Elms to the east, serving new developments such as the US Embassy and the redevelopment of New Covent Garden Market, as well as existing communities.

This talk will outline the details of the project including all the major phases of works to take place. It will focus on some of the challenges which have already been faced by the project team and an insight into some of the challenges going forward. Paul and Melanie both work for London Underground and as such can give a client perspective from both the Project Engineering and Project Management side of a major project.

Paul Ebbutt is a Fellow of the ICE with 40 years' experience in the construction industry. Paul has spent 38 years working on the planning, construction and maintenance of the London Rail Network. Paul is currently the Lead Project Engineer on the Northern Line Extension.

Melanie Ogden recently became a Chartered Civil Engineer having previously been a Graduate and Student member of the London network. She has 4 years' experience of major projects in the urban environment of London and recently joined the Northern Line Extension from Crossrail as a Tunnels Project Manager. She was an ICE President's Apprentice between 2013 and 2014.

This talk will contribute to ICE Development Objectives/Attributes focused on technical competence, project management and communication.
