The South Clyde Energy Centre is a state-of-the-art Energy from Waste facility which will play a key role in supporting Scotland’s ban on landfill of public waste. The facility will begin operation in 2026 and is expected to incinerate up to 350,000 ton of non-recyclable waste per year. The energy generated from this plant will be used to power 70,000 homes.
The presentation will cover the ground conditions encountered and how this varied from initial ground models based off of sparse site investigation data, the challenges this caused and the solutions that were put in place to ensure the 1424 piles were installed sustainably. The engineers will also discuss the implementation of a combi-wall solution, which is a first for Cementation Skanska, and the key learnings gained.
The planning engineer will then discuss the sequencing/programme of the piling scheme and how successful teamwork and an incentive scheme allowed the works to be completed significantly a head of schedule.
Note: There will be refreshments and networking from 17:45 for those attending in person whilst online entry will be from 18:00.
