Overview

A £7M investment by NI Water to upgrade the existing sewer network and undertake storm separation to resolve out-of-sewer flooding in the local area. The project is part of the Living With Water Programme, a multi-agency initiative headed by the Department for Infrastructure to develop a Strategic Drainage Infrastructure Plan (SDIP) for Belfast to support economic growth, protect the environment and address flood risk.

The presentation will give an insight into the project from the perspective of the client, contractor and NEC project manager. It will outline the complexities of constructing 1,500 metres of sewers up to 7 metres deep in an urban environment and how collaboration and design innovation was promoted using an NEC4 Option C contract to mitigate risks.
