Overview
A presentation by Phillipa Jeffries Meng (Hons) CEng
Started in 2000, and continued despite the Civil War, the Rural Access Programme - funded by the UK Government - has constructed more than 1000km or rural roads in remote regions of Nepal, along with bridges and other vital rural infrastructure. These roads mean access to education, healthcare, markets and basic goods such as rice and firewood - life changing engineering.
Phillipa Jeffries time was spent in the Mugu Humla region, working to construct a link road that would be the first road into the remote North West region of Nepal. Join this webinar as they discuss the challenges faced of constructing a road that at its lowest point is at an altitude higher than Snowdon. A road above the clouds.
