Overview

With increasing population density compounded by urban growth and modernisation in developing regions, the need for new infrastructure grows exponentially.

According to the Arcadis report, Opportunity knocks: Delivering the UK’s infrastructure Pipeline, there will be an investment of more than £28bn in London over the next four years, including the Thames Tideway Tunnel and improvements to the rail network. The report summarises that the rate of delivery on infrastructure assets must rise to more than £95,000 of output per minute, to come close to meeting national ambition.

There is a real need for long term maintenance and asset management to be taken into consideration when contracts are awarded for work. Technology needs to be embedded from the beginning of a project to ensure that infrastructure assets are effectively and smartly monitored through their lifetime.

Join us at the fifth Annual ICE and Topcon Innovation Lecture to hear from industry experts as they share their experience working at today’s intersection of infrastructure and technology, with particular focus on managing the data around existing and new infrastructure assets in a smarter way. Correctly collecting, owning and understanding the data on a project is an essential component to creating the infrastructure we need now and in years to come.
