Overview

The approaches to soil and rock classification will be outlined during this webinar, along with a summary of the latest situation on standards. There will also be a brief report on the status of the revision of Eurocode 7, in particular Part 2 and the major changes outlined.

The original versions of EN ISO 14688 and 14689 have been superseded by the 2018 versions, which included some significant changes to soil and rock description and classification. These changes were incorporated in the 2020 Amendment of BS 5930. In addition, there are the EN 16907 Earthwork Standards which in Part 2 consider the questions of soils classification in this context.
