Jonathan Macauley and Conall Doherty of Design ID will present an overview of their conservation and restoration work at the Grade 1 listed, 18th Century, No.6 Grafton Street in Mayfair, in its conversion from a derelict office building to a high-class entertainment venue.

Discussion will include the assessment and repair of the Victorian era timber roof using traditional timber jointing techniques, the extensive analysis of the 200 year-old trussed-girder timber floor beams to modern codified loads (adopting state-of-the-art dynamic testing techniques), and the appraisal of the original stone cantilever grand staircase.
A laser point-cloud survey was used to develop a fully coordinated BIM model which not only enabled close coordination between disciplines, but also provided a detailed record of the asset, aiding discussions with Historic England and enabling highly accurate specification of repairs.
Join this event jointly hosted by the ICE NI G&S Committee and IStructE G&S.
