Overview
The Institution of Civil Engineers, in conjunction with Heriot-Watt University and MWH, is holding the Christmas lecture on 14 December 2015 as part of an annual series on resilience.
This year’s topic, “Ten years on - Lessons from the Flood on building resilience” will be delivered by Professor Eelco H. Dykstra, Executive Chairman, Daily Impact Emergency Management (DIEM) Network (www.diem.nu). Professor Dykstra will take the audience through a reality-fiction scenario of a flooded city based on his 25 years of international emergency management experience in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and North America, including his work on the strategy and methodology for the International Katrina Project (IKP). The event will involve an element of audience engagement and focussed feedback.
Professor Dykstra is a member of the Netherlands National Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (www.rli.nl).
Join Professor Dykstra, Professor Paul Jowitt and Sir John Armitt at One Great George Street and hear how civil engineers are building a better world.
The event will also be available to watch online if you are unable to join us in London.
