Overview

This meeting is the 50th quarterly meeting of the Temporary Works Forum (TWf). It will be preceded by a short AGM.

The TWf is an ICE Specialist Knowledge Society of the ICE and seeks to promote best practice in the construction industry.

It aims to encourage open discussion of any matter related to temporary works. The forum is subscription-based and open to any organisation within the industry - large or small - sharing this intent; whether client, permanent works designer, principal contractor, temporary works designer, proprietary equipment supplier, specialist, industry body or academia (www.twforum.org.uk).

Luke Winch, low carbon manager at Galliford Try. Luke began his career as a temporary works designer, working across many sectors including buildings, highways and water. His passion for sustainability and low carbon design in civil engineering led him to work on behalf of the temporary works forum to produce industry guidance on considering embodied carbon in temporary works and construction.

David Thomas

David is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner. In a broad career to date he has held a number of positions in different organisations: multi-disciplinary engineering and management consultancy; health and safety enforcement (in support of criminal proceedings and as a technical specialist); health and safety management (in construction and manufacturing); and the design of equipment, training and support services for professional work at height and rescue.
