Topics covered will include:

The role of effective collaboration with a range of stakeholders - including the local planning authority, Manchester Ship Canal, United Utilities, Environment Agency and Peel Ports – which was key to developing and delivering the successful scheme.

The numerous challenges that the team faced, including protecting critical statutory undertakers’ apparatus, accommodating future construction adjacent to the diverted river, the close proximity to the Manchester Ship Canal, deep excavations, poor ground and the risk of pollution to waterways.

The importance of minimising environmental impact which included the team identifying options to enhance the local environment, providing biodiversity net gain, minimising the carbon footprint and delivering £4.8m social and local economic value added.
