Andrew Jones

Andrew Jones is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is responsible for a team of 60 Engineers and Technicians who, through innovative application of both existing and bespoke products, solve complex technical construction challenges for contractors.

Andrew has worked in the temporary works sector for over 30 years, initially with Kier Construction and then for RMD Kwikform UK Ltd. During his time with Kier Construction he worked on several complex major projects and was involved in both construction and design. While at RMD Kwikform he has specialized in Formwork, Falsework and Refurbishment.

He has been involved with a vast range of schemes and applications from the small and seemingly insignificant to the large and prestigious. One significant recent project has been the special fixed pier formwork for the Colne Valley viaduct. He is passionate about training and development carrying out internal training and acting as a guest lecturer on the City University Temporary Works MSc.

Andrew is an active member of the TWf and represents them on BSI committee B514/26 who are responsible for BS 5975.

Karl Van Zyl

Karl hails from sunny Cape Town, South Africa and has just over 8 years industry specific experience. Karl studied Civil Engineering and started his career as a temporary works designer for RMD Kwikform South Africa in 2014. After 4 years he moved to Uni-Span Formwork & Scaffolding where he worked as a Design Engineer.

In South Africa Karl worked on numerous projects entailing everything from basic formwork & falsework applications to more complex civil infrastructure projects entailing complex truss designs to span over live motorways. In 2019 Karl completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and moved to the UK.

He transitioned into the commercial side of the industry when he joined RMD Kwikform UK as a Major Projects Sales Engineer. Soon after joining he became the Major Projects Manager focusing on supporting major projects across the UK, of which HS2 has been the main focus to date.

Outside of work, Karl enjoys spending time with family and friends and lives an active lifestyle outdoors.
