About this event

This presentation will be within the context of the observed behaviour of flood embankments during the winter of 2015 and information provided in the International Levee Handbook.

The presentation will have a particular focus on UK design and construction practice and will consider the resilience of such structures.

The speakers will identify lessons learnt from a recent project (carried out jointly with the Environment Agency and HR Wallingford) which investigated the factors that led to the failures of a number of flood defence embankments during the winter of 2015.
