Overview
The ICE is delighted to invite you to its first Decarbonisation Community Forum: practical decarbonisation-led change. This event will take place online from noon to 1pm on 30 May 2025.
About the Decarbonisation Community Forum
The ICE’s new forum events have been created to bring its core decarbonisation, sustainability and climate change community together to explore key topics of mutual interest. These invitation-only sessions will be led and attended by senior experts and stakeholders, enabling meaningful discussions of the issues and ways forward.
This inaugural session will be hosted by the co-leads of the institution’s decarbonisation community: Rachel Skinner, executive director of ESG and government relations for WSP in the UK; and Lewis Barlow, decarbonisation technical director at the same company.
It will include an update on ICE decarbonisation programmes, such as its plans to disseminate co-produced standards such as PAS 2080 and BSI Flex 350, and developments concerning the institution’s own decarbonisation strategy.
The forum will feature a guest presentation from Anne-Marie Friel, partner specialising in infrastructure at law firm Pinsent Masons. She will talk about her recent paper Contractualising Climate Change, which examines the challenges that climate change presents to construction projects. Friel will also explore how a systems thinking approach could help in meeting these challenges and discuss NEC’s Secondary Option X29 clause as a practical tool for effecting industry-led change.
This will be followed by a presentation from Hannah Bartram, CEO of the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport (ADEPT). She will provide an overview of ADEPT’s three-year Live Labs 2 project. This is a £30m UK-wide scheme, funded by the Department for Transport, that aims to decarbonise local highway networks.
The forum will culminate in a Q&A session.
Please register to attend by Thursday 29 May.
