Overview

Babcock are leading a major programme at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth for the Ministry of Defence to deliver the infrastructure required to sustain the UK’s submarines for decades to come.

The redevelopment will enable Devonport to support the new Astute-class submarines, which have replaced Trafalgar-class submarines.

As part of this, the 5 Basin, East Wall Central and South Berth project aims to enable Astute-class submarines to berth against the wall.

In this presentation, you'll hear from Babcock and Balfour Beatty on key engineering topics, including the design and development of the scheme.

Find out how the project is going as it enters the main civil works delivery phase.

I think that we are facing unprecedented times.

We have a great opportunity to shape a positive outcome from the challenges societies are facing, with "new-normal" distancing and protective measures in place.

The world is in great need of leaders who are capable of making a recognisable impact on climate change.

Whilst we respond to an immediate threat, our innovative practices can be developed and adopted to create a long-term shift in our industries approach to construction.

I hope to be a real part of ensuring we have a sustainable future.
