Overview
This ICE Kent & East Sussex CPD field trip offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating geology of Folkestone Warren with expert guidance from Derek Butcher & Alex Soles. The visit will examine the history of the site, including the Great Fall and the extensive landslips that have shaped the landscape. Attendees will gain insight into the complex geological processes at play and how these have impacted infrastructure over time. The event will also highlight the innovative monitoring techniques used by Network Rail to track ongoing movements and ensure rail safety. This engaging and informative walk is ideal for civil and geotechnical engineers looking to enhance their understanding of landslide dynamics and coastal geology.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

All attendees are to bring suitable walking footwear and walking attire. PPE Hard hats will need to be worn.(Check the forecast for wet weather clothing) The terrain can be quite steep and challenging so members are advised to be fully mobile and active. Please bring drinking water + snacks and we will stop where it is needed for rest breaks. Total Distance = 3KM.
