Overview

Engineering and construction have been a male-dominated industry, but misconceptions about gender-specific roles are gradually fading. An increasing number of women are pursuing careers in engineering and construction, both in Hong Kong and globally.

According to the Census and Statistics Department, approximately 355,000 Hong Kong residents are employed in the construction sector, with women making up 12% of that workforce.

Despite this gender disparity, female engineers are increasingly taking on vital roles in mega construction projects and infrastructural planning, advancing to managerial positions within different fields of the industry, including clients, consultants, and contractors.

As a membership organisation, ICE values diversity and inclusivity. Professional engineers should be taking the initiative to drive diversity and inclusion in their workplace and professional practices. Join us as we learn more about how we may create a fairer environment where everybody feels included and valued.

The career talk will feature a diverse group of female civil engineers from various backgrounds and career stages will share their professional journeys in the format of a panel discussion. Participants will gain valuable insights into industry trends and receive essential career tips.
