Overview
In January 2025, ICE HKA G&S organised a delegation to Japan, which aims to enhance exposure of civil engineering graduates and students to good engineering practices overseas. A series of visits to engineering sites and sharing sessions with the local engineers were held in the delegation. The 9-day trip featured visits to key engineering sites and interactive sharing sessions with local engineers, allowing participants to explore innovative construction technologies and novel engineering concepts applied to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Building on this success, the G&S hosted another delegation in June 2025, this time to South Africa. While technological innovation remained a central focus, this visit also emphasised the integration of sustainable elements in engineering and development. Through technical seminars and site visits, delegates gained insights into how South Africa implements the three pillars of sustainable development—environmental, social, and economic—offering a broader perspective on responsible and forward-thinking engineering.
The study reports of the Japan delegation and South Africa delegation 2025 will be shared at the seminar. The winners of the student prize for the delegations and other selected delegates will be invited to share their takeaways from the delegation, and how the delegation has shaped their professional development.
