Overview

This workshop is an opportunity to learn more about Canton heritage through taking part in a series of hands-on activities, including tile printmaking and relief sculpting. Participants will be introduced to the local culture of Cheung Chau, including the origins of the Cheung Chau Bun Festival.

This workshop is jointly organised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Young Members Committee (HKIE-YMC), The Association of Consulting Engineers of Hong Kong Young Members Committee (ACEHK-YMC), The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Young Engineers Network (CIBSE-YEN) and Young Engineers Australia, Hong Kong (YEAHK). This is the perfect occasion to network with likeminded junior professionals in the industry through a fun weekend workshop.

In the workshop, participants will be introduced to the art of eave tile printmaking, a traditional Chinese craft used to engrave intricate patterns on tiles. The session covers the historic background, design principles, application, and employed materials for these tiles. Participants will also learn more about Chinese customs and architecture through 3D relief sculpting.
