Overview

Public lighting system is a vital component of our city. This webinar featuring an experienced engineer from the Lighting Division of the Highways Department will offer a comprehensive look into the fascinating world of road lighting systems in Hong Kong. This engaging session will cover a range of topics, starting with the fundamentals of lighting, providing attendees with a solid foundation in the principles of effective illumination.

The webinar will introduce the key components and technologies behind modern road lighting systems, followed by an in-depth discussion on the planning and design processes tailored to meet Hong Kong's unique infrastructure needs. Attendees will also gain valuable insights into the construction of lighting installations, from initial setup to completion, and learn how these systems are operated and maintained to ensure long-term efficiency and safety.

Notes:

  • Registration will be confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to ICE HKA G&S members. Only successful applicants will be notified.
  • Only successful applicants will receive confirmation emails. 
  • The event will be conducted in Cantonese and supplemented in English.
  • Attendance certificates will be provided within two weeks of the event, subject to attendees having participated for the entire duration of the event.
  • Applicants with no-show records will be given lower priority in future G&S events.

Vincent Yip

Mr Vincent Yip is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) and a Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (MHKIE) in the Structural Discipline. 
Throughout his career, he has been involved in various public housing development projects as well as new town development.

Currently, he works in the Highways Department Lighting Division, where he is engaged in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of public lighting system.
