Former Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman described Huddersfield railway station as “the most splendid in England”. Since its opening in 1847, Huddersfield railway station has been at the heart of the town’s community.
In 2022, Huddersfield station celebrated not only its 175th birthday but a new future, as the Transpennine route upgrade began to significantly improve its facilities, giving the people it serves a station truly fit for the 21st century.

Andrew has 35 years’ experience working on numerous rail and highway projects. This includes a total of 15 years with Network Rail, as Senior Asset Engineer and for the last five years as Senior Project Engineer working with the Transpennine Route Upgrade West Alliance.
Other projects that Andrew has worked on include:
• NWEP’s Phase 3, Preston to Blackpool Electrification,
• Network Rail Work Package A, including Ordsall Chord,
• Principal Engineer on Network Rail CEFA Assessment Programme,
• Phase 2 of the Nottingham Tram Project,
• Huyton to Roby four-tracking,
• Bridgeguard 3, 40t Assessment Programme.
