Join ICE for a compelling insight into the design and delivery of Old Oak Common HS2 Station. WSP’s Chris England shares a consultant’s perspective on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.

The Institution of Civil Engineers invites you to an exclusive presentation by Chris England, Associate Director at WSP, offering a consultant’s perspective on the design and delivery of the Old Oak Common HS2 Station.

Chris has been working full-time on the project since May 2020 and currently serves as Deputy Structures RIBA 5 Team Lead. His talk will explore the consultant’s role during the design stage, including project coordination, construction methodology, and the structural design of key elements such as the base slab, platforms, and portal buildings.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into how the team addressed challenges around durability, sustainability, and resilience in one of the UK’s most complex transport infrastructure projects. Chris England

Chris England is an Associate Director at WSP with over 12 years of experience in civil and structural engineering. Based in Basingstoke, he has contributed to a wide range of sectors including education, aviation, and rail. His portfolio includes work at Heathrow and London City Airports, Bournemouth University, and the Principal Place Commercial Building in London.
Chris has been a key figure in the structural design of the Old Oak Common HS2 Station since 2020, leading on platforms, portal buildings, and the train crew and accommodation building. He is currently site-based, supporting the contractor during the construction phase as Deputy Structures RIBA 5 Team Lead.
