Join the ICE West Midlands for this lunch and learn webinar about the efforts to improve the design and develop Network Rail FLOW Bridge.
The Network Rail FLOW Bridge is a modular bridge system that was developed collaboratively as part of the nationwide drive to improve safety at level crossings. The brief sought to find an alternative to the heavy steel standard footbridge commonly used across the railway.
A modular concept design was developed in fibre-reinforced polymers (FRP) using parametric modelling tools, which allowed for a highly collaborative process and real-time design evolution. This resulted in the production of a prototype to test the feasibility and functionality of the new concept, that was then installed permanently near Craven Arms, Shropshire, in early 2023.
The speaker for this event will be:
- Anthea Schneider, advanced bridge designer, Knight Architects
This is a great opportunity for delegates to learn about the steps undertaken to refine the prototype design into the ‘MK2’ standard FLOW Bridge design, starting with site analysis and standards compliance, through structural analysis, fabrication refinement and geometric improvements, to the fixed kit of modules.
