Overview

North Town Bridge is a historic, visually striking, and hugely important piece of transport infrastructure in the heart of Taunton.

Crossing the River Tone, it is the gateway to the town centre from the north half of town.

It is, however, an ageing structure which needs to be periodically repaired and refurbished to bring it up to the standard that such an iconic structure deserves and to ensure it can continue to function for many years to come.

This presentation will discuss the details and challenges of the recent refurbishment works, the extensive temporary works required, as well as a bit of history and background of the bridge.
