Overview

This session provides an in-depth exploration of STARBARS technology—green and cost-effective concrete reinforcement. It introduces a new product, GFRP Reinforcement (STARBARS), developed by CRT Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, a local company and patent creator of non-metallic construction materials that meet international specifications.

This product serves as an alternative to steel reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures, with its design usage based on the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 440 code.

STARBARS is recognised as a green material—high-performance fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) rebar using nanotechnology, also known as "Green Steel." It is four times lighter than conventional steel bars, non-corrosive, non-magnetic, electrically and thermally non-conductive, and more cost-effective than steel reinforcement.

The STARBARS product has received several certifications, including MyHIJAU, SIRIM (CFP), MySTI, and others.

It serves as a knowledge-sharing platform to deepen understanding of innovative construction materials and their role in advancing sustainable and cost-effective reinforcement solutions.

It aims to foster meaningful discussions on the adoption of non-metallic reinforcement technologies and their impact on the future of the construction industry.
