Overview

The UK water industry’s eighth capital investment programme since privatisation, known AMP8, runs from 2025 to 2030. It's a pivotal period with a record £104 billion investment, an increase of 77% compared to the previous investment period.

AMP8 will focus on environmental improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and population growth. It will be overseen by Ofwat, the UK water regulator, which determines investment and performance targets for water companies in England and Wales.

Wessex Water’s capital investment programme is nearly £3.5 billion, and more than a quarter of this investment is being used to remove nutrients from treated wastewater discharge to enable housebuilding and growth to continue, while protecting the water environment. Nutrient neutrality rules cover 43% of the Wessex Water area, due to the sensitive nature of the receiving waters.

In terms of practical delivery, Wessex Water is scaling up for an unprecedented workload expansion. This includes early engagement with the local supply network. The company believes its in-house delivery model will stand them in good stead for the expansion in investment as they are accustomed to managing risk and playing a hands-on role.

Join Julian Schlosser, business plan implementation director at Wessex Water for a presentation about the company’s capital investment programme for the next five years.

This breakfast event is hosted by ICE Dorchester City Club and includes a breakfast bap and tea or coffee.
