Overview

Since January 2022, a Communication Task is now incorporated into the ICE’s Professional Review process, replacing the previous written exercise component.

The ‘CEng Communication Task Group’ event series will provide guidance on how to communicate well within a series of industry-specific themes. The session will aim to focus on Managing Utilities within the civil engineering industry.

Although this event is open to all ICE members, this event may be particularly useful to those who are preparing for their Professional Review at CEng level, and is not applicable to those following the English Degree apprenticeship leading to an End Point Assessment.

The format of the session will consist of:

Theme – Managing Utilities

  • 5-minute brief introduction from ICE regional committee member hosting/moderating the session and an ICE Membership Manager;
  • 30-minute presentation by guest speaker; Martin Robertson
  • 20-minute group discussion and presentation preparation;
    • A set of prompts for discussion will be provided before entering breakout rooms on Microsoft Teams, where attendees will be randomly assigned to groups of 6-8 attendees (may vary due to session attendance);
  • 20-minute delegate feedback session and open floor discussion;
    • Groups will be asked to present informally a few of the key points from their breakout room discussion to the wider group of attendees for discussion

This event is hosted by ECNet committees from the Scotland region (Edinburgh and Glasgow) using Microsoft Teams. The session will be hosted and moderated by regional committee members, where session content will be presented by guest speakers or ICE staff members at times.

The sessions within this event series shall not be recorded.
