Overview
This is the eighth in a series of online talks by engineers and technicians who live and work with disability on a daily basis.
Matthew joined Atkins during his year in industry in 2008 and joined their Water team. The Water team predominately supports Water and Wastewater utilities designs in the UK and Internationally.
Once graduating from the University of Brighton with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, he rejoined the team in the summer of 2011.
Since then he has been involved with many projects including:
Blagdon Intake and pumping station;
Mogden STW Combined Heat and Power Replacement;
Mogden STW SAS Thickening process;
Clean water rehabilitation works in Sierra Leone.
He then spent 14-months in Qatar as the Design Manager for a large scale terminal pumping station.
Since returning to the UK due to COVID-19, he has been the Lead Design Engineer for the sludge improvements at Beckton STW (Europe’s largest wastewater treatment works) and numerous smaller commissions in the Middle East and Australia.
He obtained his Chartership with IMechE in 2016.
