Overview
The Gravity Smart Campus is located just off M5 J23 at Bridgwater and is a 635 acre development based at the former Royal Ordnance Factory in Puriton. The developer 'This is Gravity' has appointed contractor Griffiths to initially deliver the access link road and subsequently work in partnership to develop a cutting edge sustainable delivery of the main site infrastructure including rail, road and utility provision.
The whole ethos of the development is to deliver 'Green Growth' and set new standards for sustainable delivery. The presentation will highlight how the partnership arrangement being undertaken enables the project to deliver more sustainable growth and promote innovation. Griffiths will outline how they have maximised the use of their position in the global CRH Group to draw upon innovation and expertise from across the globe to drive this innovation.
The presentation will give an overview of progress to date and outline how some 145,000 tonnes of site won material has been recycled and used to construct the link road and how Griffiths have successfully introduced solar powered generators to operate site offices and welfare. Additionally, the project has designed and delivered a Green Bridge and investigating the use of low carbon asphalt material using car tyres and steel slag waste.
