Overview
The ICE London Graduate and Student Committee is delighted to present this webinar with speakers from the Environment Agency on Green Finance.
The webinar will feature a number of short seminars, including:
- Introduction to Green Finance and its status within UKPLC by Naomi Collins
Naomi will introduce the concept of Green Finance in the context of the Green Finance Strategy published by the Government in 2019. She will also flag some of the key initiatives ongoing in this space.
- Overview of EA’s roadmap for securing investment/ funding by Fiona Williams
Fiona will elaborate on how we currently fund our flood risk management infrastructure. She will also present our forward outlook towards a more integrated programme for the Environment Agency that include initiatives that will deliver multiple benefits of flood resilience, improving our water, land and natural environment.
- How climate change increases risks for infrastructure investment and what controls can be implemented by Rohit Das
Rohit will present on the financial value of resilience in the context of increasing climate-related risks and how investing in resilience makes good business sense particularly for infrastructure and built environment operators. He will also flag some financial instruments and mechanisms that would drive financial flows in climate adaptation and resilience.
- Case Study: Oxford-Cambridge Growth Arc – Economic Evidence Study by Laura Kitson
Laura will present a case study on some new approaches to investment planning for future flood-risk management infrastructure in the proposed Oxford-Cambridge (OxCam) Arc.
The Environment Agency has commissioned a study to develop economic evidence to determine the optimum level of investments and identifying triggers for future investments using ‘Adaptive Approaches’ under multiple scenarios of climate change and future development.
