Overview
Join Paul Sheffield, ICE President, and Andy Warrington, East Midlands Regional Chair, for this key event during the East Midlands 2020 President’s Visit.
This online event will enable members to learn more about the green transport opportunities and challenges emerging from Covid-19, following the £2bn package announced on 9 May by the Government to create a new era of walking and cycling.
Guest speaker Jason Clarke, Regional Director at AECOM, will present the content of the Government statement and subsequent letter to local authorities, regarding the types of measures to enhance the provision and encourage more walking and cycling.
Jason will also outline delivery priorities and discuss immediate short-term requirements to facilitate social distancing as a result of Covid-19, such as widening footways and ‘pop-up’ cycle infrastructure, as well as share examples of what is already happening. Paul Sheffield, ICE President will summarise how this will benefit new developments before the Regional Chair opens the debate to delegates.
