Overview
Join ICE West Midlands Regional Chair, Gbenga Oludotun, for the next event in his Chair’s Programme. He will be joined by Susie Elks, Energy Policy Advisor at Energy Systems Catapult (ESC).
The UK is legally bound to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Susie Elks will discuss the economy-wide change this requires and how policy is needed to drive the nation there. Meeting the UK’s target will require unprecedented innovation across all sectors. Innovation not just in new technologies, but in new ways of deploying existing technologies, new business models, new consumer offerings, and, crucially, new policy, regulation and market design.
Energy Systems Catapult has a broad catalogue of work on the steps needed to reach net zero. In this webinar, Susie will walk through the changes needed in each sector of the economy, current policy and the proposals put forwards by ESC to 'bridge the gap'. This will draw on the landmark report 'Innovating to net zero' and ESC's Policy Team's proposals for innovation policy for net zero.
