Overview
Island Line Upgrade – Presentation on the Isle of Wight (IoW) - Main Works contract:
OSL Global are the Principle Contractor and are delivering a challenging upgrade of the Island Line under a JCT Design & Build contract.
The Island Line is unique in that, isolated from the rest of the UK national rail network, it operates a fleet of ex-London Underground trains, adapted to run on the route. The 5 ½ month, ‘End to End’ project includes upgrades to:
- Track
- Signalling Route Relay Interlocking (RRI), upgrading to Solid State Interlocking (SSI) with associated upgraded power
- Civil Engineering (Platform Overlays and platform structure strengthening and re-builds
- Associated electrical track equipment, 3rd Rail, upgrade works
